baby it's cold outside

So next week for two very fleeting days I'll be going to Melbourne and I'm really excited! It's a spur of the moment, $20 fare, no checked in luggage kind of trip, which in my opinion are the best kinds of trips, and I plan on just going to Movida bakery for jam donuts and Cibi for Japanese breakfasts and Kinfolk for, well, wooden tables and vases of flowers and heart-warming soups. I'm open to any and all suggestions that you can throw my way, I love Melbourne and I'm so excited to just wander around and find fresh spots and revisit favourites and meet up with new friends and catch up with old ones. Send me an email hryee1@hotmail.com or leave a comment if you have any suggestions - or if you know of any thing cultural happening in Melbourne town on Wednesday or Thursday of next week that I simply must see! Thanks!

What a coat. And I could totally see you in it.

Have a great time in Melbourne, I love last minute trips prompted by cheap fares!

Oh I do hope you enjoy yourself in our fair city!

If you haven't had the pleasure you should check out the refurbished Myer store in the city on Bourke Street. SUCH an improvement (if you ignore the basement).

If you're into your music don't forget the Corner Hotel in Richmond. Always got good live music.

For cheap drinks on Thursday, no cover fee and off-beat decor (but still with music to dance to) New Guernica in the city is usually decent (http://www.newguernica.com.au/thebackwoods/new_guernica.html). Doesn't get going till late but is open very late!

And of course there are always the laneways for both food and shopping cravings! Sydney Road and Smith Street are also great for shopping fixes.

There's a fantastic Napoleon exhibition on at the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) International on St Kilda Road. And the State Library of Victoria always has something good on - like the docos/shorts screening on Wed 18th (http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/event/artist-and-king).

Just a little taste of what Melbourne has to offer. Hope you have an amazing time!

I moved to Melbourne from London a few months ago. Arcadia on Gertrude Street is great for breakfast, Ferkydurke is a really cool bar on Lonsdale Street and make sure you visit the Life With Bird discount shop on Brunswick Street! Enjoy! And wrap up warm!

Omg you must attend Babka bakery on Brunswick street. Have a croissant for me...or the French toast... Or a slice of the lemon tart... Or all.... Oh goodness I miss that place!
